The Aurora Public Schools Board of Education meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The board first meets at 6 p.m. for dinner.
The meetings are held at the Dr. Ed Lord and Patricia Lord Board Room, Educational Services Center - 4, 1085 Peoria St. These meetings are open to the public.
In 2009-10, the board meetings will follow one of these formats: board workshop, board work session, general board meeting or executive session. Board agendas identify the meeting format.
Board Work Sessions
Work Sessions provide the board an opportunity to develop strategies and tasks for accomplishing key goals.
Board Workshops
Workshops provide the board an opportunity to work with staff, parents, students and/or community members to better understand key initiatives and issues. The board will also hold targeted community engagement sessions to gather feedback on its work.
General Board Meetings
General meetings provide the board an opportunity to conduct its formal business.
Executive Sessions
Executive sessions, which are closed to the public, provide the board an opportunity to discuss topics such as personnel items, negotiations and consultations with legal staff.
All open meetings of the board are tape recorded. The official record of the board proceedings is retained in written minutes that are permanently stored and available for public inspection at the Aurora Public Schools Educational Services Center - Peoria Building. Minutes for recent meetings, and agendas of future meetings, are available on this site.
